Author guidelines

Before submission

Ethics in publishing

We do care about ethics in the scientific world, and do our best to provide an ethical publication process.

If there is a plagiarism detected in the article, the manuscript will be rejected and any future publication of this manuscript will be suspended (even after corrections).

Submission declaration

By submitting the article to the Archives of Mechanics journal, you declare that:

  • The manuscript contains original research results.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published, nor is it submitted to another journal for consideration, neither in whole nor in part.
  • The manuscript not been generated by artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies.

Artificial Intelligence usage

The articles written by AI will be rejected at the first stage, before review process. The next submitted articles may never be accepted.

Authorship

The Author(s) explicitly reserve(s) copyright and all other intellectual property rights in the article except as specifically provided in aforementioned licence.

Changes to authorship

If there is a change to the authorship of the manuscript – the authors need to prepare a document that states the change, and the authors who are deleted from the authorship have to sign the document by themselves. If there are any situations when you want to add authors (especially after the review process and acceptance of the article for publication), we need a document signed by ALL authors that they agree to add the new author.

Funding sources

Information about funding sources have to be added to the manuscript before the reference list.

Manuscript Preparation

Style and format of manuscript

The language of the journal is English. The manuscripts should be submitted online in the PDF format. The style of the manuscript should follow the recent articles printed in Archives of Mechanics and available online. Of special importance are the following recommendations:

  • The title of the paper should be informative and not too long.
  • The text should be preceded by a brief abstract of 100-200 words.
  • Several key words should be provided just below the abstract.
  • Formulas should be numbered using two digits: the first represents the section number and the other the formula number in that section.
  • References in the text of the paper should be indicated by numbers in square brackets and should be numbered in the order of appearance in the text. The reference list at the end of the manuscript should include the initials of the first name(s) and the surname of the author, and then the full title (in the original language and in English). These should be followed by: for book's - the publisher's name, and the place and year of publication; for periodicals - the full title of the periodical, volume number (in bold face or underlined), issue number (when needed), page number, and the year of publication. At the end, please provide the DOI number, if exists. In the case of online sources, the date of access should be provided after the http address.
  • Figures in the submitted paper should already be of the final quality suitable for printing.
  • The electronic source files of the whole manuscript, with separate files for the figures, are required immediately upon its acceptance for publication.
  • The preferable format for the text is LaTeX while MS Word is also acceptable. Separate files for the figures should be provided in one of the following formats: EPS or PostScript (preferable), PDF, TIFF, JPEG, BMP, of at least 600 DPI resolution. Mathematical symbols in the figures should be in italics if correspond to such symbols used in the text.
  • A PDF file of a published article will be freely available on the journal web site.
  • Upon request and subject to a reduced fee, authors may obtain a copy of the printed issue of the journal containing their article. Please contact the editorial office for details.

We require authors to strictly follow the guidelines. Please take the time to prepare the manuscript to be readable. Failure to provide the necessary information and format the manuscript may be a reason to reject the work.

Submitting your manuscript

Submission checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Names of the authors with affiliations and e-mail addresses.
  2. Manuscript saved as PDF format.
  3. URLs for the references have been provided (if exists).
  4. DOI numbers for the references have been provided (if exists).
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  6. The manuscript has page numbers.
  7. All illustrations, figures, and tables are places within the text at the appropriate part of the text, rather than at the end.

Submit online

Manuscripts intended for publication in the Archives of Mechanics should be submitted in PDF format via an on-line procedure.

The online submission is easy and quick – in 5 steps you are able to submit the manuscript to the system.

New submissions that remain incomplete more than 30 days will be removed.

After submission

Each manuscript is initially evaluated by the Editor and then allocated to an Associate Editor according to a specific subject area. The Associate Editor’s forwards it to reviewers. The Editor and the Associate Editors make the final recommendation. The reviewers’ opinions are crucial for the Editorial Committee to decide whether the paper can be accepted for publication or not.

After receiving a final decision

Final decision and next step

After acceptance, Authors will need to send Word or LaTeX source files of the final version of articles as well as original source files of figures (drawings/diagrams/graphs or photographs). Authors can use their preferred manuscript-preparation software, including for example Microsoft Word or any variant of TeX. The journal itself is produced in LaTeX, so accepted articles prepared using other software will be converted to LaTeX at production time.

All figure/photo files must be high-quality – with resolution no lower than 600 dpi.

For diagrams and graphs vector EPS or vector PDF files are the most useful. Most drawing and graphing packages (e.g. Mathematica, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, MATLAB) allow the user to save files in one of these formats. Make sure that what you are saving is a vector graphics and not a bitmap.

Please also include the original data for any plots. This is particularly important if you are unable to save Excel-generated plots in vector format. Saving them as bitmaps is not useful; please send the Excel (.xls) spreadsheets instead.

Each figure should be saved in separate file – the name of the file has to be numbered.

Pack all figure files into a single archive (zip, tar, rar or other format) and then upload on the web site.

Proof corrections

After formatting your manuscript into Archives of Mechanics format, your article will be sent to you for authors’ proofreading. Read the article carefully and please thoroughly review each equation and/or symbol employed in your manuscript to ensure the absence of any inconsistencies.

Publishing agreement

With proofreading you will receive an open access licence to publish to sign. This licence is sorely important for us, without it we are not going to publish the article. The licence is about the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0., which allows users to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation.

By signing the licence, the author(s):

  • has/have taken due care to ensure the integrity of the article;
  • explicitly reserve(s) copyright and all other intellectual property rights in the article except as specifically provided in this licence.

Open access

After your final corrections, the article will be published as an online first article or final publications, both with a DOI number. Both online first and final publications are open access, without any hidden fees.
